Missions Team

We have really been enjoying having our team here from Texas/Montana.  It is a large team...19 people.  They have worked so hard this week building the three concrete homes back in Maya Mopan.  This work is not for the weak.  And the weather has not been cooperative.  After a very dry couple of weeks, we have had nothing but RAIN, RAIN, RAIN.  Yet, they press on and work hard each day.  Sunday is the only day they have rested and they desperately needed that day of rest.

The team came loaded down with blessings for our family.  We are so thankful for the snacks, baking supplies, special gifts for everyone and magazines...at $6 US at least for a magazine, this is something we just go without...so what a blessing...

Friday night after the team had their first day working on the houses, they came here for pizza and wrapping of gifts for the children's home.  They were all wiped, but it was a fun night for us.

Robert Elliot caught this shot...I love it.

These two mamas have so much patience with Erika, helping her wrap the gifts.  And this sweet couple below made a special Dr. Seuss quilt for Erika, since she is just learning to read.  They also gave her some Dr. Seuss books....  What a perfect, so special gift.  We are so thankful.

That night, we had to get to bed early so we could head bright and early to Belize City for Josh to take his SAT.  We found out the night before that a boy from our church would be there too, so that made me so much more comfortable dropping him off.  Then the Lee, the girls and I explored Belize City.  It was a fun day, especially because of all the Christmas stuff going on.  I got to go to some big stores and that was a real treat for me.  There are no big stores in Belmopan!!

Then, of course, the awkward waiting for an hour and a half for Josh's test to finish...

After a busy morning at church Sunday morning, we took the team to our new favorite place, Mexican Taco.  They liked it.  We actually got it again tonight!!

That night, we did a baptism for one of the team members, who actually had a lot of family on the trip too.  Don't you love Ken up on the second story taking pics?

Then, Monday, it was back to work building houses and some of the ladies painted a wall at the children's home, while other ladies took the director around to restock their pantry, and get other needed items.  It was a lot of fun.

It is hard to believe it is just Tuesday.  Lee and I are pretty exhausted, just from the busyness of the team being here, yet, we enjoy every second of it.  This team has tremendously blessed our family...but also the people of Belize.  We will be sad to see them go on Thursday, but I know they are all exhausted and will be ready to be back in their own homes.

Oh, how could I forget these photos from Robert of the team working on the homes?
