Preparing...

This week, we have been busy with school and life.  It was our second week of school and the kids are already beginning to test in some subjects.  All is going well.  Erika loves to learn and that makes it fun.  She is always excited to see what we are going to do each day.  She has "paces" like the big kids, although at this point, we do them together.  She has Math, English, Social Studies, Word Building, and Science.  Usually we have a craft, which is always fun.  Lots of reading each day.  Sometimes when she asks me to read a book now (after school), I am out of voice from reading all morning.  She has scripture memory...a line is added every other day.  And she is awesome at it.  It is very exciting for her to get the "Bible" sticker for her chart.

Tori has 6 subjects and is doing great.  The second half of the year, she will do a special in-depth report on Belize.  So, we will probably be spending some hours in the library.  I am thankful that we live in the internet age, though, because she will get a lot from there.  She is still doing piano lessons weekly and she is doing great.  And also prepares the lesson each Sunday for the children at church.  She definitely has a full plate.

Josh has a full schedule as well.  He has 7 subjects.  And he says it is much more challenging this year, especially Science.  He is doing great though and works hard.  In the afternoons, they all do the Wii Fit for PE.  It is required for them to do PE, and they actually seem to be enjoying it.  They have sore muscles from all they have been doing.  We plan to swim some and ride bikes, but they are doing the Wii Fit for now.

This week we had some special visitors, James and Susan Dodd.  They were missionaries in  Belize for years.  Their daughter and son-in-law, Lance and Judith, were members of our church in Katy until they got moved due to their job.  But Judith is still so special to me...she is actually the first person I called when Lee felt us being called to come to Belize.  James and Susan also brought some missionary friends that are up in Corozal with them.  We had such a great time visiting and then went to lunch.  The couple in Corozal invited us up to stay with them sometime.  They just built a beautiful home on the water with a pool.  Sounds like a nice getaway:)

Yesterday and today, we have been preparing for Tropical Storm Harvey.  It is raining, raining, and raining some more.  We already had gotten some things a while ago, but I stocked up on bread, batteries and candles this morning.  Josh and I went and got haircuts real quick this morning as well.  Josh is already cooler...  It is hard to know what to expect with any storm.  A member of our church is a reporter and headed to the storm on the coast!!!  Please pray for him. 

So, today, we are baking for our first BBQ tomorrow night with LifeNet.  And waiting to see what happens with the storm.  I am praying that we do not lose electricity or internet, but know it is a real possibility.  The weather is nice and cool now as it rains.  That is one huge blessing.

Erika got her stitches removed on Wednesday.   She is walking, but we are still trying for her not to be too active.  And that continues to be a challenge.  We are thankful that the wound seems to be healing.
